For people that ask me if I’m vegan, vegetarian, or paleo, I honestly say neither. I personally don’t choose to associate myself with any type of dietary label, and I’d like to keep it that way. I choose to eat for the sake of my health, and advocate this for my clients as well. I believe that with proper education, we can make healthier choices that fit our lifestyles!

What does eating for health look like or involve? In my experience (including my clients), eating organic whole foods in a fermented and oil free form has been a great success thus far, and there’s research to go along with it! Ladies and Gents, have you been thirsting for that inner Latin flame? | The Latin Torch

I decided to take some time to fast with liquids as a way to allow my body to alkalize, “clean house”, rejuvenate, and gain some clarity in aspects of life.

I had intended on using the traditional lemon, cayenne pepper, maple syrup cleanse (replacing the maple syrup with raw honey), but came to the conclusion that I’d welcome other fresh flavors 🙂 Continue reading “Ladies and Gents, have you been thirsting for that inner Latin flame? | The Latin Torch”

Fermented Foods You Don’t Have To Make | What To Buy & Why

phonto

For the past three years I’ve been making my own fermented foods at home. I fell in love with fermented foods the first moment I tasted a homemade batch of fermented sunflower seed spread, almost as if it were a love affair! From that moment on, I began preparing ferments at home. There’s a beautiful sense of fulfillment that continuously grows when preparing fermented foods in your own environment! photo

If you’re an oatmeal lover like I am, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this easy superfood oatmeal for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner!

It’s quick and easy to make, and even makes a perfect “on the go” snack 🙂

If you happen to have blood sugar sensitivities, eating bananas for breakfast may be something you want be cautious of. So, you can definitely enjoy oatmeal with bananas as an afternoon snack.

Consuming higher sugar fruits in the later part of the day tends to support the blood sugar much more efficiently than earlier in the day. So, if you’re looking to have these oats for breakfast, you can switch the banana for lower glycemic fruits like berries. If you plan on having this later in the afternoon around 3pm -7pm, then using the bananas shouldn’t be a disruption to your blood sugar.  Continue reading “HealthyHumanz: Superfood Oatmeal with Bee Pollen”

Kraut de Purpz | Fermented Cabbage!

Happy fermentation Friday!

So, I’ve spent all this time talking about fermented foods, and posting fermented photos on my Instgram. The entire time of taking pictures and talking about these fabulous healing foods, a few subscribers have helped me realize that I don’t even have a basic step by step process for you to actually make your own batch! I love this method of fermentation because it literally requires such a small list of required fermenting ingredients 🙂

An easy vegetable to begin fermenting with is red cabbage. Its full of flavor, an erupting color explosion to any plate, and supports digestion. What more would you ask for?  Continue reading “Kraut de Purpz | Fermented Cabbage!”
