Now that its beginning to warm up over here in California, its time to begin incorporating some liquid sunshine in your life!
Aside from its delicious taste, lemonade deserves to be looked at on a pedestal, a positive contributor to your health! However, this all depends on how you make it!
Lemonade without real lemons just isn’t lemonade.
Lemons are known for their richness in Vitamin C, antioxidants, & bioflavonoids.
Vitamin C is greatly recognized as support for the immune system, a critical part of collagen synthesis throughout its entire lifecycle, along with the abundant supply of antioxidants that trap free radicals in the body, promoting oxidation within the tissue. Keeping your tissue filled with oxygen helps to fend off potential infection.
Vitamin C travels through the body negating any free radicals it comes into contact within the fluid environments of the body; inside and outside the cells. Free radicals can interact with healthy cells of the body, damaging the entire cell! Overtime, these damaged cells create great amounts of inflammation, infection, and pain throughout the body. There are other fruits aside from Lemons that are rich and abundant in Vitmain C to help you reach your tissue oxidation goals 🙂
Bioflavonoids are greatly known for their antioxidant properties, as they promote greater vision, improved cardiovascular health, increased capillary strength, stronger connective tissues (like the bladder), skin health, and a stronger immune system.
Studies have shown benefits of the citrus bioflavonoids on capillary permeability and blood flow. This is due to the powerful anti-inflammatory effects of these phytonutrients. This is especially important for oxygenating tissues and maintaining normal blood pressure. It also reduces swelling, venous backup, and edema. This process also improves respiration in the lungs.
Hesperidin is found most abundantly in the peel and membranous parts of lemons and oranges. Hesperidin is often used for the treatment of varicose veins and hemorrhoids. A deficiency of hesperidin in the diet has been linked with abnormal capillary function, extremity pain & leg cramps.

Increased bile metabolism greatly increases the body’s ability to digest fats efficiently. The functionality of the gallbladder influences every single organ in the human body.
In order for the body to breakdown fats during digestion, bile metabolism is highly required. Since the body does not manufacture Vitamin C, we need to obtain it from our daily diets.
Here’s a tasty way to get started!
Minute Made Liquid Sunshine
Serves 4 people
32 oz (4 cups) of purified water
1 large lemon
2 Tbsp raw unheated honey
6 large strawberries ( Optional: For strawberry lemonade! )
Fill blender with 4 cups of water. If you prefer to drink your lemonade right away, you can pre-chill your water before blending.
With a peeler, peel the outside of the lemon leaving the pith of the lemon.
In case you don’t know your lemon “anatomy…”
The pith of a lemon is a beautiful source of bioflavonoids!
Cut lemon in half and squeeze lemon juice into the blender. Toss lemon halves (including the pith) into the blender with honey.
For strawberry lemonade, rinse 6 large strawberries, remove their tops, and throw them in the blender also!
Blend everything at high speed for 45 seconds.
Your lemonade should be thick, juicy, chunky (from the whole lemon with pith), and frothy!
